Ribenalish!
Bangkok is famous for their delicious and spicy food. But, it is limited to find Halal food here as majority is Buddhist.
First place is Chatuchak Weekend Market or Jatujak (as pronounce by Thais).
To get here is easy. You can choose getting by taxi or Tuk Tuk ( which i don't recommend because of the high price as they don't use meter unlike taxi ), just say Chatuchak (Jatujak) Thalad( which means market).
By BTS , alight at Mochit station, or by MRT alight at Kamphet Phet station or Chactuchak Weekend Market station, where you have to cross their beautiful garden first.
Saman Islam is very famous in Chatuchak, but it is quite expensive especially for students. You just need to find the clock tower, and Saman is on your right hand side. It is located in section 16, soi 7.
the clock tower where you can make it as your meeting point. |
My favorite Halal stall in JJ is the Fried Chicken rice Stall. It is near the road when you arrive. It is located in sections 5. For the landmark, you need to find toilet gate 3 signage tower , it is adjacent with the stall. It is in front of section 14. The stall sell very simple food, steam rice , fried chicken and soup. Amazingly, the taste of the soup and fried chicken blend so well. I always buy the fried chicken more because it is so good. They also sell the yellow rice, glutinous rice and chicken curry for your options.
If you alight at MRT Kampheng Pet, it is easy for you to find this Halal stall selling sausage. I'm not a big fan of sausages but, this one is very delicious, and become my ultimate favorite. After you exit from the station, it is on your right hand sides. It is the third stall, the first stall sells drinks, and the second stall sells fresh oranges juice. It sell variety of sausage like beef and chicken , and also beef balls, chicken balls, and fish balls. The sellers will grilled it and ask you if you want the delicacies to be dip in their home made hot sauce. I prefer not to, because i don't like spicy. Try it !
I would like to recommend for you to taste the famous Cha yen (Thai milk tea) near the sausage stall. You can see it, it is on the left hand side when you first enter Jatujak (JJ market from the station). Beside the stall, is a stall selling coconut ice cream for 35 bath with three free toppings. I choose peanuts, grass jelly with the ice cream in the coconut shell. If you are lucky, the will give you free coconut drink that is so refreshing.
